“Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been obsessed with dance. I recall videotaping music videos on MTV, which my mum forbid me to watch, and practising the routines in secret. Hearing these songs I used to dance to, my body still remembers most of the steps, while my mind doesn’t. That’s such a magical thing. But it’s only by getting older, I became aware of the deeper meaning of the dance. Something intangible, healing and powerful, like a religion.
Knowing how to dance and knowing how to teach are to very different things. I tend to tell stories quite incoherently. So what about this passion? How can I convey these choreographies that I created so proudly in a clear way?
I was very fortunate to meet Kate, who is an amazing role model as a teacher, both in dance and in life. She taught me about self-worth and about understanding but also controlling these emotions for others to grasp. It’s not only about the steps. Making others feel what you feel throughout the entire class: liberated, empowered and leaving room for flaws. That’s what makes her teaching unique.”

The instructor training consists of the theoretical part with a well-written handbook (teaching methods, the flows & energies, chair moves…), homework to get to know the style and really valuable feedback on your own chair choreographies & ideas. I loved every second of the training!

I decided to become an chair dance instructor because I wanted more option for myself. Also to teach chair dance in a safe way and have a professional background that I can offer my students.
I can be very short with my answer: I LOVED THIS CHAPTER!!! I loved all the different elements, the different videos, and the different assignments throughout the chapter and I definitely enjoyed putting all the knowledge together in the real class assignment. It pushed me to really pay attention to all the details, and try to grasp every important thing that I learned throughout the course already. VERY VERY NICE!!
